Launch of our Training Portal for Refugee Sponsorship

Many countries across the world have introduced community-led refugee sponsorship schemes, and together have supported newcomers to rebuild their lives and feel welcomed. To deliver this support actors have developed useful resources and learnt a lot of lessons.

Why reinvent the wheel?

Together with Citizens UK, we have gathered resources and lessons learned from across the globe to be shared on a free training portal. The online portal includes useful resources, case studies and best practices on refugee sponsorship from Europe and Canada. It will get updated regularly with new useful material.

Alongside consulting the resources, we invite you to follow our capacity-building workshops co-organized with Citizens UK targeted at actors in community sponsorship across Europe to share common challenges and solutions. The first online training took place on the 16th of November. It brought together over 80 participants from the Americas, Australia and Europe to focus on how to mobilise volunteers sponsors groups and how to manage expectations.

We hope that the training portal, alongside the capacity-building workshops, proves useful for volunteers, governments and organisations working to deliver refugee sponsorship programmes in your countries.
